2023 Acura MDX vs 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350

Serving Hoffman Estates, IL

Now that you have narrowed down your search for a luxury SUV to the 2023 Acura MDX and the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, you need to identify their many differences. An initial look reveals that the starting price for these SUV models is comparable, and pricing varies as you walk up the trim lines and optional packages. What are some of the most significant differences between these premium options?

Design

The 2023 MDX has a rich, sporty style with sharp design elements from end to end. This is most well-defined on the nose with a pentagon-like grille that rounds out to connect with slender, LED-enhanced headlights. The athletic design is also defined by deep air vents on the nose and a chrome belt that runs across the door panels. The 2023 GLE 350 has a classic look, a double-bar design on the grille, and a relatively upright stance through the profile. The front also has a downturned metallic feature through the bumper and double-scored LED headlights. The sides have a thick element on the lower panels and horizontal accents.

Features

Across all of the MDX’s trims, this SUV offers exquisite materials and advanced features. Some of the features that are offered in the 2023 MDX are an ELS Studio sound system with 25 speakers, heated seats with massaging front seats, USB ports in all three rows, a household power outlet in the second row, a head-up display, a surround-view camera, a cabin intercom system and more. The GLE 350’s features vary significantly from trim to trim. At this base level, you will find simulated leather material, heated front seats, auto emergency braking, ambient interior lighting, a digital driver’s panel and a few additional features. Notably, the GLE 350’s third row is only offered at higher trim levels.

Performance

The 2023 Acura MDX is available with two powertrains. Most of the trims have a 290-horsepower, 3.5-liter, V6 engine with a 10-speed auto transmission. The Acura MDX Type S comes with a turbo 3.0-liter, V6, 355-horsepower engine. Additional upgrades for the Type S include:

  • A sport-tuned adaptive air suspension system
  • A sport-tuned transmission
  • All-wheel drive
  • Brembo front brakes

While five powertrains are offered across the GLE’s trim lineup, the GLE 350 is offered with only one engine. This is a 255-horsepower, turbo four-cylinder engine with a rear-wheel drive system.
