How it Works
We advise you to begin preparing for the end of your lease six months before your contract ends. That way you have time to weigh all of the options you have at lease-end.
If at the end of your lease, you still want to lease another Acura, you will need to schedule a free vehicle inspection during the last two months of your lease. Plus, you will be responsible for any outstanding payments, excess wear and use, excessive mileage, and any other outstanding obligations specified in your lease agreement.
You also have the option to purchase your leased vehicle at the end of your lease. When you buy your leased Acura, you secure a vehicle with proven reliability and performance. If you decide to buy your vehicle, there is no need to have it inspected, since there are no excess wear or mileage charges to worry about. Read more below for further details.
VEHICLE INSPECTION
If you choose to return your leased or Leadership Purchase Plan™ vehicle, you will need to arrange an end-of-lease vehicle inspection through our preferred vendor SGS. The inspection is free and takes about an hour to complete. An inspector will travel to a location convenient to you, such as your home or office.
Why an Inspection is Needed
The inspection gives you a portion of the information you will need to properly close your account. It’s important to set up your appointment and have the inspection completed in the last two scheduled months of your lease.
You are responsible for any excess wear and use, which may be charged to your account. It’s a good idea to be aware of any charges before turning in your vehicle. That way, you’ll understand and be prepared when you receive a bill for these conditions. Having the inspection done well in advance of returning your vehicle also gives you time to take care of any needed repairs yourself.
Can I schedule my lease inspection online?
Yes, you can schedule your lease inspection online here. Please have your Acura Financial Services account number and VIN number available.
How the inspection works
Inspectors will not drive the vehicle, but they will need the keys to start it and test all electrical functions. Upon completion the inspector will print an inspection report and review the results with you.
We recommend that you be present for this inspection. If you are present, the inspector will give you a copy of the report following the inspection. Shortly thereafter, you will also receive a Preliminary End of Lease Statement that outlines the estimated costs of any excess wear and use or damage, excess mileage, etc. No charges will be made to your account until after the vehicle has been turned in.
Prior to the time of the inspection, we ask that:
- The vehicle is as clean as possible, inside and out, but detailing is NOT necessary.
- All items are removed from the vehicle, including child car seats. Inspectors will not move or remove any items from the vehicle.
- All keys, manuals, original accessories, and any service or maintenance records are present.
- There is adequate space and light for the inspection process.

Excessive Wear and Use Waiver
Acura Luxury Leases include a $750 Excessive Wear and Use Waiver. Loyal clients who purchase or lease their next Acura vehicle may qualify for an additional waiver and may be eligible to get their turn-in fee waived.*
* Refer to the Lease-End Inspection Guide for information about excessive wear-and-use.
A loyal client is one who purchases or leases another new Acura or Honda automobile within 30 days prior to or after the turn-in date.
Total amount waived not to exceed $1,500.
The turn-in fee amount depends on your state. See your lease contract for details. For specific benefit information on your current AFS lease contract, please log in to your AFS account and select End-of-Term.
Making Repairs
If the vehicle requires repairs, consult a Client Services Representative prior to completing. If repairs are needed. we encourage you to use an authorized Acura facility to ensure that the vehicle is properly repaired with Genuine Acura Parts (as required by your lease agreement). Please be sure to save all repair receipts, as they will be required at vehicle return.
If you prefer, you may instead return the vehicle without making repairs, in which case you will receive a bill for the cost of excess wear and use after your vehicle is turned in. Again, no charges will be made to your account until the vehicle is turned in.

PURCHASE YOUR LEASED VEHICLE
If you decide to purchase your vehicle, there is no need to have it inspected. Just follow these easy steps.
Step 1
Obtain a Payoff Quote: You can get a payoff quote 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online by logging in to your account or by calling our Express Payoff System at 1-866-777-6495.
When calling for your payoff information, you may request a written confirmation of your payoff quote by mail, along with instructions and required documentation.
Note: If you live in IL or OH, certain conditions require that you speak with an Acura Financial Services® (AFS) Lease-End Specialist
Step 2
Notify us of your intent to purchase: Contact us and let us know you intend to purchase the vehicle.
Step 3
Mail the full payoff amount (including state sales tax, if any) to the address below. If there is no outstanding balance on your account, the title will be mailed upon verification of final payment clearance. It is important to verify Acura Financial Services has your current address on file to ensure you receive your title.
Because federal law requires that you disclose the mileage in connection with the transfer of ownership, you must submit a signed and dated Odometer Disclosure Statement.
For payment information please call or email us.
Step 4
Re-register your vehicle: State law requires that you transfer the title and vehicle registration into your own name and pay any applicable sales tax and/or fees. This can be completed at your local Department of Motor Vehicles.
